“I see myself as the enemy.
I'm not the same person that I was yesterday…”
– Excerpt from “Truth Hurts

Here to round out their 2 part saga - begun with the groovy, yet staggering, track, “Dead Ends - the rising Australian post-hardcore act, The Motion Below have returned to conclude this story of “liberation from addictive chains and an spiraling descent into madness” with “Truth Hurts”.

The track meanders its way through angry verses to quiet interludes that narrate the dark thoughts of the protagonist. "Truth Hurts" is part 2 of 2, following the release of the previous single "Dead Ends". The new track carries the same themes as the last, exploring the cycles of addiction and paranoia but with far heavier instrumentation to encapsulate the feeling of a descent into madness.

-Excerpt from The Motion Below Official Press Release

The musical growth of The Motion Below since our coverage of their sophomore EP, ‘Cronus Complex‘ (See Dear Untitled: Oct 2019, Issue #15) is immense. In March 2020, when “Dead Ends” dropped, we felt that the story and track went hand in hand perfectly, undoubtedly featuring the strongest performances these young rockers had to date. “Truth Hurts” merely sustains that quality - both visually, and sonically.

In part 2 of this story, we find ourselves observing the protagonist from “Dead Ends”, witnessing further the struggle to unshackle himself from both the physical confines of his room and doubts of his mind. Striving to muster courage to face the world again - a world who drove him mad once before - the process of picking up the pieces of his sanity and self confidence keep him at bay. Painful aware of his own state, viewers are left hoping that this is not the end of the road for their dear friend.

"The world can wait 'til I am done.
I don't need you to fill my head with all your truth,
So hold your tongue and keep your mouth shut.
Don't remind me of what I've become.
I need to forget that I'm rotting on the inside,
I'll crumble if I don't push the doubt from my mind.
"
