Review of '“Quiet/Chaos” (Single) by Takers Leavers

Lie to me. Lie to me. Tell me I’m a better man…..I can’t stand to think that I suffer from the same disease as you

- Excerpt from “Quiet Chaos”

Crushing into the speakers with antagonizing lyrics: “LIE TO ME, LIE TO ME, TELL ME I’M A BETTER MAN”, Takers Leavers, a newly established post-hardcore act, grabs our attention out of the gate. Channeling a fantastic tone, one which vividly recalls “posthxc glory days” - think Saosin, Emery, Scary Kids Scaring Kids, and the like - this California act seamlessly transforms “Quiet/Chaos” into a modern day MUST-LISTEN sensation.

Since the video release via DreamBound, we at Dear Untitled haven’t really put it down, letting the haunting chorus simply carry us through this past weekend and beyond…

Am I an outline that is starting to fade?

Am I a stain that you’ll never erase?

- Excerpt from “Quiet Chaos”

Lest we forget to mention the fantastic story line woven within their music video that coherently portrays the lyrical torment embedded within “Quiet/Chaos”, Takers Leavers appear as though they have been in the spotlight once or twice before and deserve the attention as such.

Quiet/Chaos” latches onto any listener’s soul and proceeds to shake them into a subdued existential crisis with the evocative, and inescapable mid-track verse, floating atop a beautiful guitar piece:

Do you remember when you slept in fear

Dreaming of my always-sharpened teeth?

Brandishing always-sharpened teeth

Grinning “Stay away from me”

I am woven to your sleep

I am woven to your dreams

- Excerpt from “Quiet Chaos”

Essentially, this:

…us too, man.

As one of the highlights of the 2020 music year releases so far, “Quiet/Chaos” has landed itself atop some of our “single of the year” release lists at the blog, as well as on our Dear Untitled Discoveries playlist (once the spotify release happens!). For anyone who enjoys the raw end of post-hardcore tracks with steeped emotion, “Quiet/Chaos” by Takers Leavers, and their upcoming release campaign is DEFINITELY something you want to keep close tabs on, and you know that we will also. - Nic B
