Review of “Redamancy” (Single, Sept 13th, 2020) by Nasma

Redamancy (n.) The act of loving in return. Redamancy is distinguished from most of the other words about love in that it is one of the few that specifies reciprocity.

Revealing a deeper look into the future sound of what Nasma can be, the new single from this Perth-based metalcore act, “Redamancy” (Sept, 13th, 2020), showcases combative vocals, vulnerable lyrics, and rhythmic prowess - capturing strains of wistful nostalgia along the way.

"…Take me back
To the hours that pass like seconds
Just one more moment to embrace
The way the world suspends around me
As I welcome the warmth your soul radiates
.."
-Excerpt from "Redamancy" by Nasma

Immediately enveloped within the relentless fury of newcomer vocalist, Jayden King, the listener is exposed to a similar aggression and structure we heard from the act’s debut single, “Metanoia” earlier in 2020. Establishing a powerful lyrical foundation, underpinned by the driving bass-line, the momentum builds, crashing into a craved moment of atmospheric pause - echoing the opening chorus once more. With lines such as “If home is where the heart is, I will migrate beneath your skin, To ensure my impression”, the band takes the track title to heart, clearly articulating their end of an unrequited love. Consumed by stirring cries and propelled by resonating guitar, the track fills the void with a yearning passion, awaiting a response which only the listener can reciprocate.

"…I will love you
In this life as in death
But will you promise
To search for me in the next?…
"
-Excerpt from "Redamancy" by Nasma

Building on the success of their debut piece, “Metanoia”, the new single, “Redamancy” places Nasma front and center in the current climate of an internationally renowned Australian metal scene. Teasing glimpses of a blossoming future, Nasma has more like this to come in the coming months with their EP ‘Desertion’ in store, so stay tuned to their socials and right here to Dear Untitled so you don’t miss a beat from this rising act! - Nic B
