We are leaving Meta

Effective 10/29/2026. If you want to keep discovering new music with us, the best way is our email list. No algorithm, no middleman - just the music articles and features you signed up to see in the beginning!

Why we are doing this

On 10/30/2026, Meta’s new terms of business will allow them to scrape any business account on Instagram, Facebook, or WhatsApp as well as any associated website for “development” of their advertising and business products. Though legal experts advise that this language is broad enough to let them train AI models as well.

(To stay up to date on what we know and to keep yourself informed, please go here)

Not only is our own journalistic content at risk, but so is the artistic integrity of countless creatives who have chosen to entrust us over the past 8 years as we showcase their work on our platform. To even consider compromising our values on that would be unthinkable.

There is no Opt-Out.
The only way to refuse is to leave.

We believe consent is something you can refuse. So we are leaving.

We understand that AI takes many forms and can have useful applications. This isn't a stance against all of them. It's about credit, compensation, and control. In our reading, the terms are written so broadly that Meta can do nearly anything it wants with content on websites outside its own platform. We consider that severe overreach.

Artists have it hard enough already - why would we perpetuate and endorse that problem?

What does this mean for Dear Untitled Moving Forward?

  • Dear Untitled will exist by page handle only on all META platforms - @DearUntitled. Messaging and inquiries will still be available via these platforms, however all inquiries, communication, and requests for coverage following 10/30/2026 will be preferred and prioritized at contact@dearuntitled.com or at our Contact form on this site.

  • There will no longer be articles shared in your feed and we will be purging all historical articles which we have posted on the META platform. All release articles, music reviews, podcasts, and additional coverage will be documented exclusively on the Dear Untitled website and associated platforms/distribution services.

  • We will no longer have external URLs linked in our bios on META to reach the website, and we will no longer be sharing intellectual and creative property on their platforms as we refuse to feed the META scraping / GEN AI machine.

This is an important stance we must take to fight against both AI and the ownership of intellectual property - both for ourselves but also for the artists who we have, and will continue to, support, feature, and represent.

Between now and 10/29, we'll share what we know and update you if anything changes. We'll also share other ways to find us. Spread the word to those who care about local and upcoming music!

Stay Safe, and Keep Rockin’,

Nic Beardsley and the Dear Untitled Team
