Review:

Just stay for a while,

for a moment,

Cuz I know when I’m with you,

I am happy,

optimistic...

- Excerpt from "Sunshine"

The smooth vocals of Ryan Beebe dance over the upbeat guitar to open a impressively tactful and astounding album by Goalkeeper. Hailing from the Philly burbs, Ryan Beebe, Cody Ritche, and Marc Juliano approach their music with a naturally ingrained pep to their step, hitting you with the beats to keep your head bobbing and riffs to keep you flying high throughout the entirety of their latest album, ‘Bad Times Don’t Last’.

Sporting the tongue in cheek mentality of the show, "Always Sunny in Philadelphia” which many know Philly by:  Goalkeeper opens with the cheery track, “Sunshine”, which has the potential to break through the clouds of anyone’s mental haze. Channeling the vocal tone and poise of a young Mark Hoppus, Ryan matches the vigor jumping off Marc’s guitar into your ears assuring us that we’ll be alright. Breaking into what I believe will ultimately be the timeless track of the album, and unquestionably my favorite diddy on the record, “Chances” features the perfectly crafted harmonization between Ryan and Liz Mauritz that will tease out any bottled emotions inside. The gut punching lyrics grapple with the process of moving on from a former love which ushers in the next two happy-go-lucky tracks,  “Left Lane” and “Lately”, both uniquely intricate in their own regard. “Left Lane” bounces you right over to a softer side of the band, in their acoustic showcase, “Lately”. Seriously, the energy of this album is so vibrant that before you know it you’ve arrived at the true hallmark conclusion, “Nothing At All” - previously released as the lead-in single for the record. ...But wait! - as much as you’ll want to hit the replay button instantly to hear it all again, stick around for a little extra something on the track…..trust me, you’ll love it.

When the guys gave me the EP, following a live show in early November, I unintentionally listened to it 3 times on the way home. I even parked, sat in my car and listened another time through before I went inside….and haven’t put it down since. You’re in for a treat as these guys match the vibes pumping through your headphones with the frenetic excitement of their onstage performance - if you have the chance to see Goalkeeper, maybe one too many beers in, sweaty, and jamming with a crowd - then you sure as hell better do it. Goalkeeper is the next big name in Pop Punk music, and the genre hasn’t see them coming, until now . . .

Goalkeeper is here to rock your world, put a smile on your face, and have a good time, so make sure to join them Saturday, December 15th for their album release show, but learn all the lyrics FIRST when the album, ‘Bad Times Don’t Last’, comes out this Friday, November 16th, to support some of the most genuine humans we’ve met! - Nic B.
