Review of “Saferoom” (Single, July 31st, 2020) by Marked;Life

“…I’M TRAPPED IN A SAFEROOM!…”

For readers who have followed Marked;Life since their signing to We Are Triumphant in January 2020, you are fully prepared on what to expect from this spastic nu-metal group based out of Arizona. If you’re new here, then get ready because Marked;Life is about literally blow your socks off with their relentless ferocity - they are here to make an impact and well…

…leave a mark.

Following their debut track, “Just Deaf” in fall of 2019, and their single “Loner Wolf” in early 2020, “Saferoom” doesn’t stray far from the intense passion and emotive tempo changes which define Marked;Life’s trademark sound. Listeners are hooked by yet another visually stunning music video which just screams the nu-metal vibes, both literally and figuratively. After speaking with vocalist, Sam Laponis, one begins to question how these gutteral screeches and cries of agony manifest themselves out of such a friendly soul - the animation is honest and visualized:

“…Everyone in Marked;Life has their days…whenever I write lyrics, I can’t write happy. I have to be sad or in a really mental state to write. Its the same thing with guitarist (Caleb), and that’s why everything has emotion behind it…” - Sam Laponis

(DU POD - Ep #13)

With the release of “Saferoom”, Marked;Life is not only closing in on their 2020 EP Debut, but also is breaking through genre walls regarding their sound and unorthodox style - harsh tempo changes, weighted lyrics, and fierce vocals to match - this Arizona band knows how to bring the heat. Make sure to keep an eye on them in the coming months and follow them on their socials to not miss a beat, if you can keep up…! -Nic B
